Breathing in the rarefied air.

Hailing from Cardiff, James Ellaway aka Lung has been bashing out some great tracks of late. Often producing Drum and Bass as well, it's his take on the whole dubsteptech / future garage / house interface that's been peaking my interest.

"Rogue Waves" is a real stand out number amongst the varied stable on his Soundcloud page. Melodic dubtech balancing emotive synth bleeps and squigly evolving bass pulses with some really crisp percussion; the breathing, pitched and reverbed snare effect really pushes and pulls the track along creating a very hypnotic feel while the minimal and tasteful vocal additions round out a seriously well produced track.

Lung has built up a quite a repertoire of tunes worthy a listen, seeing tracks like "Afterlife" and "Time" getting an outing on Kokeshi Records. With his numerous uploads to the cloud showing much promise, it's little surprise that more of his tracks will be making their way to vinyl sometime soon. Keep an eye out for "Bimini Road" appearing on 12" sometime in 2010.
